Family is the glue that bonds, the tape that holds, and the nails that seal the casket. They might not kill you, but they’ll try your nerves!
Tell me I ain’t lying, mama! You know how it goes. You’ve waited for picture day forever. You finally get the kids ready to eat through the food fight and game fight and then they were fighting over . . . What don’t they fight over? Siblings will test each other and they test our nerves right before we get our family portraits taken. By the time you finally get there you feel like your hair is a wreck, your dress is wrinkled, and it’s all you can do to smile through tears. It’s ok, it really is! You don’t look half as bad as you think you look. Thank God we don’t look like our nerves, right? Family photographs are every mother’s dream and every mother’s nightmare, but only until you get on scene with me.
After you arrive, I quickly take over. I tell jokes (that I think are funny), I run with the kids (or they chase me), and then once I got them all wore out, it’s time for sit and pose, stand and pose, however you want them to look with you. But before we get to that point, I will be trailing them with my camera, getting them to share their funniest expressions. I’ll ask what their hopes and dreams are and what they want to be when they grow up. I have a toddler myself, I know how to speak Frozen, I am convinced I can now speak any child’s language.
And how about that gorgeous spouse you brought?! I’ll make sure we get shots of just the two of you as well.
